As you may know I have a cute as a button 16 month old son. It also just so happens that he loves to read. He’ll pick up a book from his tiny bookshelf, bring it over, plop down, and we’ll read together. Sometimes we will read the same book 10 times (I know Goodnight Moon by heart). Other times, he will get bored after the first page, and want to roam around. It’s become our bedtime routine since as long as I can remember. I love seeing his little face light when when I grab the book from him and he gets into his favorite position. Without further ado, here’s his top 5 favorite books:
The all-time crowd pleaser. Who doesn’t love to read Goodnight Moon sitting next to a comb, a brush, and a bowl full of mush? This is a book that we read every night.
We received Jamberry as a gift and I’m so glad we did. I think this is my favorite of his favorites. Quickberry, Quackberry, Clickity, Clackberry – or something like that. This is extremely fun to read.
Although my son is growing out of this one, I think this is the genesis of his infatuation with his belly button. For the longest time he would touch his belly button and then want to touch our belly button. There was no stopping him. Plus, he loves “flap” books.
This is becoming a go-to in our library. It’s simple and quick with fun illustrations.
I believe this book is why my son has great dexterity. He’s worked hard on sliding the windows, and now is pretty much unstoppable. Moreover, it keeps him entertained, and focused on learning words at the same time.
We first read this at my brother-in-law’s house, and I instantly bought one that same day. It’s a blast to read.
There we have it – my son’s 5 favorite books plus one of my favorites. I would love to hear what types of books your kids read and their ages.
Thanks for reading!
